Virgin Renew Academic Sponsorship for Tourism Students

virginThis summer Virgin Holidays renewed its academic sponsorship for Caribbean students who would like to study hospitality management at University, in association with the Caribbean Hotel Association. This is the fourth year that Virgin Holidays has committed to the scheme, which is designed to make sure that Caribbean nationals are well represented and equipped to have a voice in the development of their tourism industry.

Next year the scope of the scholarship will be widened to include applications to study courses with a focus on sustainability. Applicants will also be encouraged to study at the University of the West Indies, to ensure that the financial aspect of the investment stays in the Caribbean.

With the Caribbean one of Virgin Holidayskey markets, the company has a clear interest in investing in the economic prosperity of the region, besides the benefits such community investment brings to the area and the company reputation. Virgin Holidays is also partnered with the Travel Foundation in working on ProPoor tourism initiatives across the world, with focus on fostering improved supply chains between the agricultural sector and hoteliers and sustainable sea harvesting in the Caribbean.
